SPECIAL CAPRESE

Cook with Vittoria and Giulia the Marronaia Special Caprese. Caprese salad is a Neapolitan main course which, as the name suggests, has its origins in the beautiful island of Capri. There are several myths and legends about its origin. The most credited story about this delicious salad refers to the birth of the dish during the second post-war period.
Seems that the Caprese Recipe owes its birth to a particularly patriotic bricklayer, who loved to enclose the colors of our tricolor inside a sandwich: basil, tomato, and mozzarella thus went to stuff a soft loaf of bread to be enjoyed during lunch break.

Some people place the origins of the Caprese around the 1920s when the dish appeared in the Quisisana Hotel menu in Capri.
It is believed that the Caprese was part of a Futurist dinner, organized for the founder of this historical-cultural movement, Filippo Tommaso Marinetti ( Italian Po. Marinetti was against tradition in general, so he didn’t appreciate the traditional cuisine as well. To amaze the poet, the chef of the Quisisana Hotel created this particular salad which, in addition to representing Italy in colors and ingredients, was a dish far away from the traditional pasta course.
