della Marronaia

Santuccio della Marronaia is Podere La Marronaia’s token Vin Santo, the traditional sweet wine of Tuscan conviviality. It is served at the end of every meal as an accompaniment to dessert, particularly alongside the famous Cantuccini Toscani, biscuits made with almonds.

Santuccio is a blend of Trebbiano and Malvasia Chianti grapes grown in the Podere La Marronaia vineyard at an altitude of 380 meters/1247 feet. The grapes are harvested by hand and divided according to quality. They are then laid out to dry for about 3 months. In this way, excess water is removed to make for a very sweet wine. At a later date, the grapes are gently pressed and the juice is fermented. The wine is then aged for 6-months in steel tanks before being aged in the bottle.

    We bought this delicious sweet wine after a wonderful wine tasting dinner at Podere La Morronaia, and brought it back to the US to share with our family and friends. Everyone loved it!
