To obtain the highest quality of the wine, all the operations are carried out by hand, and the grapes are divided according to quality during collection. Harvesting of the grapes takes place in two separate periods. First, we harvest the Merlot, and second, the Sangiovese. Fermentation takes place in cement vats at a temperature ranging from 28°C-30°C/82°F-86°F.
It is produced only in the best years and left in oak barrels for 18-months. The latest production dates back to 2014.
DEDICATION
Pico gets its name from the blending of Pietro and Corrado’s initials, the sons of Luigi and Silvia. They are now all four co-owners and managers of Podere La Marronaia. Tending to the land is a family passion that they hope to keep alive for many generations to come.
