He was a school headmaster in Tavarnelle Val di Pesa, the teacher Dei was known as a kind and authoritative person, of great values, passed on to generations of students who still remember him with admiration. And it is because of his legacy that we wanted to create this new wine, sweet and austere at the same time, creating a mix of meticulously balanced aromas.
The grapes used for the Orazio della Marronaia come from Podere Fornicchiaia, our vineyard near Siena.
The blend consists of 50% Sangiovese, 25% Merlot and 25% Cabernet grapes.
It is then fermented in cement tanks and then aged for 3 years in oak barrels.
Visual examination: the color is a deep red with purple hues
Olfactory examination: Orazio della Marronaia presents an intense aroma of red fruits, such as sour cherries and cherries, nuances of wood, tobacco and leather
Taste examination: it has a very strong, mineral and full-bodied taste. The tannins are intense but not aggressive, the aftertaste of chocolate and vanilla is persistent.
Our Orazio della Marronaia is nice to pair it with strong foods, such as red meat, game or spicy foods. For the fruity and intense notes that it presents at the end it can also be paired with dark chocolate.
