ORAZIO DELLA MARRONAIA
He was a school headmaster in Tavarnelle Val di Pesa. Teacher Dei was known as a kind and authoritative person of great values passed on to generations of students who still remember him with admiration. Because of his legacy, we wanted to create this new wine, sweet and austere at the same time, creating a mix of meticulously balanced aromas.
The grapes used for the Orazio della Marronaia come from Podere Fornicchiaia, our vineyard near Siena.
The blend consists of 50% Sangiovese, 25% Merlot, and 25% Cabernet grapes.
It is then fermented in cement tanks and then aged for 3 years in oak barrels.
Visual examination: the color is a deep red with purple hues
Olfactory examination: Orazio della Marronaia presents an intense aroma of red fruits, such as sour cherries and cherries, nuances of wood, tobacco, and leather.
Taste examination: it has a very strong, mineral, and full-bodied taste. The tannins are intense but not aggressive, the aftertaste of chocolate and vanilla is persistent.
Our Orazio della Marronaia is nice to pair with strong foods, such as red meat, game, or spicy foods. For the fruity and intense notes that it presents at the end, it can also be paired with dark chocolate.
