THE CASHMERE GOATS

The cashmere goat is one of the most beutiful goat in the world.

It's original of the North-West Indian region of Kashmir but today it's known all over the world for the production of a fiber famous for its qualities: softness and lightness.

In our farm we choose to start our breeding with the young kids, very good fiber producers.  

The harvest of the fiber is made by hand in spring time; after that the fiber is manually separated from the coarse guard hair before being spun into yarn.

In the genetic selection the quality and quantity of the fiber produced , are much more important that the "pedegree". That's why there is a continuos selection in each generation.

Podere la Marronaia is member of the Association of Italian Cashmere Goats (AssCapCashIt) made to support professionally the small breeders and protect this precious goat.

The Cashmere Goats give fiber and milk.

Cashmere is a very precious fiber. Podere la Marroania can guarantee a good production coming from organic method breed goats

All the fiber products and the skin care products obteined form the cashmere goats' milk are available in our farmhouse and in our shop "Ai Quattrorsi" Via San Matteo 3- San Gimignano.
